We Said Yes.

Those in civilised countries, who said ‘Yes’ some time ago, wondered what I was on about when I posted this to my FB feed.
I shouldn’t say it like that. Australia is civilised. Of course it is. But sometimes I wonder, when we have taken so long to essentially give a fundamental right to a human being, or actually a couple of them.
Love is love. The heart wants what the heart wants.
It’s simple really.
I don’t understand bigot and discrimination very well I’m afraid.
I don’t understand why we can’t just accept and let others live their lives to the best of their ability.
From where I sit, it appeared a lot of the No’s, came from a moral stance associated with religious beliefs.
I don’t understand why it’s necessary to force your interpretation of the Bible and its teaching onto others.
So much I don’t understand.
What I do understand is my religious upbringing, my interpretation.
Love, acceptance, forgiveness, kindness.
I was proud of my fellow Australians this week.
I hope our government shoots this legislation through.
I’m sure I have a wedding or two to go to. 4ffa0c283e890861136572c734d6a7e1
