We woke late, opened the curtains only to find icebergs floating by 🤓

From 6am to 10am the cruise ship travelled the inside passage of Tracy Arm Fjord. (A Fjord is a long, narrow, deep inlet bordered by steep cliffs and carved out by a glacier). It was stunningly spectacular. As naturalist Tess, who intermittently narrated the route said, we will have taken at least 4000 photos on our iPhones, and were any of them capturing the beauty of what we were seeing? Probably not, although I am sure our photographer friend Tina would have….
We ended up sitting quietly, enjoying the serenity and watching from our balcony. There really aren’t words.

90-95% of the iceberg is actually underwater. Seals give birth on the icebergs, away from predators such as whales. The turbidity created by the water surrounding the iceberg from the glacial flour confuses the orca’s sonar and creates an acoustic camouflage.
The skill of the captain and the Alaskan pilot to navigate through the narrow inlets was quite extraordinary. Apparently whenever ships are in Tracy Arm Fjord, they must have an Alaskan pilot to provide the coordinates. The Captain follows his command.
Whilst in Tracy Arm Fjord, we went environmentally friendly. That meant our morning coffee had to be in a glass, rather than a paper cup and we had to use real spoons for stirring. Oh joy!! Definitely suited us.
The afternoon was quiet, eating, sleeping, reading, relaxing. As true holidays go.
The evening commenced with another trip to one of the onboard restaurants, only 3 courses this time and new best friends, some people from Mexico and more Californians. There are a lot of Californians here! New best friend Bob wandered past and invited us to dinner tomorrow night with his wife and daughter. It’s his daughter Angela’s birthday and also formal night onboard so we will have to get frocked up. Well I will. MOD would look a little silly in a frock.
Dinner tonight was followed by ‘Celebrity Liars Club Game Show’. Apparently there are onboard celebrities! A panelist of three, they were each given a word and they had to provide a definition. The audience had to determine the real definition and who was the liar. Twas a bit of fun.
Last stop before bedtime was to see one of the show’s onboard productions – Stardust. Not too bad, there is some good talent onboard.
And that my friends, was Thursday. Only 3 more days before we complete our cruise. Sailing day tomorrow!
