No, it was the rain.
On and On and On.
We got up early and went for a walk before hitting the Matakana markets.
Warkworth is quite hilly and it was nice to stretch out and see a bit of suburbia.
Bigger than we thought with quite a lot of interesting pockets of homes.
Stopped at the Chocolate Brown for a coffee, and to try and drain off. Unfortunately the attached Chocolate Shoppe was closed. Although I expect chocolate at 7am probably isn’t quite right.
I am not adverse to that of course, but I do have to fit into a wedding dress in, oh about 5 weeks. And right now that’s not looking good.
The Matakana Markets I am sure would be fantastic on a normal non wet weather day, but I think we were unlucky that a lot of stall holders chose not to set up shop.
We wandered around the brave few (who were under cover) and by that time breakfast had to be had at the TramCar Diner, which yes, was an old Tramcar.

A drive around was then in order so we headed to Snells Beach and Algiers Bay for a look-see.
Nice places. We think. Bit hard to see through the rain. Nice homes.
We hoped to go to the Sulptureum but that wasn’t a goer.
You guessed it, due to the rain.
In the end an afternoon by the fire at the pub wasn’t such a bad thing.

Followed of course by dinner in the same pub.
Followed by an early morning to catch a flight back to Chch.
Thank you Bay of Islands and Northland.
We enjoyed you. Mostly. Except for the rain.

So, here we are, back to reality.
With that wedding to prepare for.
Ours.
Be prepared for wedding blogs.
Might be best to sign out now. 🤪
