The Bool

And The Great Ocean Road.

And Casterton.

So much to see along the south west coast of Victoria.

We headed out of Melbourne, leaving the hustle of the impending Grand Prix behind. First stop Geelong for coffee at Geelong Waterfront on Eastern Beach.

Always a quite pleasant place to visit, although the weather seemed to be a little against us, sunny one moment, rain the next.

That type of weather continued on through to Warrnambool.

Leaving Geelong we headed out through Lorne towards the Great Ocean Road. And ended up going past the entrance to the Great Ocean Road viewing area, turns out it is on the right side of the road (obviously heading Westish) and you walk a tunnel under the road to view the 12 Apostles. (Be careful though, snakes on that there path, according to the warning sign).

But wait, apparently there have never been 12 Apostles.

At the start of the 21st century there were 9 limestone rock stacks, but in July 2005 one of them collapsed. Another collapsed in 2009. Seven left. Who knew???

The rough waves not only destroy the Apostles but they form them too. The arches and bridges we saw will one day collapse and become stacks which will in turn collapse back into the ocean from whence they came.

Got some nice pics just the same.

Headed off to spend the night in Warrnambool at a nice little Air BNB called 22 Gillies Street.

You guessed it, it was at 22 Gillies Street, right in town, close to the beach and a close walk around the corner for a meal at Images. Handy.

Nice little restaurant with a huge menu.

Next morning we headed off for the mandatory beach walk before heading off to Maslin Beach. Seems the beach is a training area for horses. But only between midnight and 9am 🤪

Coffee and lunch was at the Casterton Central cafe where I introduced MoD to the local ‘snot box’.  Yummdidlyumpcious.

Known as custard squares in NZ, we Aussies call them Vanilla Slices. Sometimes.

Heading into South Australia we ventured upon one of the many silos across Western Victoria and clearly SA.

Amazing artists and a fabulous idea to create such beautiful art out of what was otherwise an eyesore.

You can actually do the Australia Silo Art tour.

This is the one we saw…..

This is a sample of others….well worth a trip I would think. Maybe next time.
