Maslin Beach, home of the first nudist beach in Australia

We looked…..and we looked….and we looked.

The water temperature was at least 16, but nudies were nowhere to be found.

So disappointing.

Douggie said he was considering it. Sigh of relief that he decided against it.

We wouldn’t have known where to look.

I mean eeeewwwwwwww…..

Different when it’s strangers.

But someone you know??

I don’t think so……

Maslin Beach is a beautiful little seaside escape just 20 minutes south of Adelaide and right at the doorstep of McLaren Vale.

And the wineries.

Which is, I guess, why we are here.

We had visions of hiring bikes and cycling from one winery to the other.

Bike hire in Maslin Beach unfortunately was problematic.

So, the first day of our two day stay was spent walking the beach, and then heading inwards in search of coffee.

It was threatening to rain.

We found coffee and shelter at Bradleys Bakery, right next to one of my favourite shopping experiences.

Chemist Warehouse.

The rain didn’t eventuate so we headed home to rest before our next stop.

Dowie Dooley’s Wine and Chocolate experience.

I had booked us a wine and chocolate pairing experience.

Twas a cute little cellar door, made from containers.

We, in New Zealand know all about container conversions.

The original intent was to cycle to DD at 1pm, in between other wineries.

Oh well.

Our pairing experience was meant to take 2 hours, but with 3 chocolates and the same amount of wine we were drumming our fingers at the 20 minute mark.

Only one thing to do.

Get in the car and head back up the hill to view display homes.

We are both about to build.

Doug and Annabel, their dream home.

MoD and myself our dream Bach. Or holiday home as we Aussies call it.

So, look at display homes we did.

Then off to find kangaroo fillet so MoD could impress us with his kangaroo fillet bbq expertise.

Not to be found.

Chicken skewers, steak on the bbq and salad it was.

After tea, I did a little more research and found a little place in Adelaide willing to pick us up from McLaren Vale and take us cycling the wineries the next day.

Best get an early night.

  1. Shame about the weather and the absence of nudies 😂 Also the fact you had to fill in time looking at display homes but I hope you got some good ideas. And then no kangaroo either! Sometimes the best laid plans…… Enjoy cycling around the wineries tomorrow 💜
