Starbucks and such…..

I can’t work at Starbucks. Which is where we are now. The girl at the table beside me is getting an induction and apparently ‘the expectation is to taste every one of our coffees before 90 days’.

Starbucks has 21 hot coffees, 28 cold coffees and 17 coffee Frappuccino’s.

I could never deviate from my singleshotsoylatte.

Starbucks and I would have to part company. 😢

And their staff have to be clean!!

So says the sign on the toilet. Luuucccckkkkyyyyy!!!

MoD bought me a breakfast muffin with turkey and egg white. That’s it. No condiments, no cheese.

Wasn’t my fave.

Last night we had world famous Wisconsin Cheese curds

Also not my fave …….and don’t get me started on Dill Pickle chips…..

I’m thinking yellow Clark Rubber (comparison only us aussies will understand).

While we sit in Starbucks I listen to the rich American accents, the ones I haven’t really noticed when watching tv but do when surrounded by it.

I’ve had to slow down my speech and clearly articulate – bit like I have to sometimes in NZ. I do remember a New Zealander telling me I pronounce fish like fush, as she kept repeating ‘fush, fush, pronounce it like ‘fush’ not how you do it -‘fush’…..an argument I never had a chance of winning. Mind you I have always pronounced the abbreviation of physiotherapist (physio) with a th. Wasn’t until recently when my DIL Ness explained I needed to pronounce it with a ph (like phone) that I realised the error of my ways.

On Saturday of course we were surrounded by 195 American accents. I say 195 based on the fact we found one South African and two Swedes. MoD certainly doesn’t count. He was told by said South African “it was good to hear a New Zealand accent again”.

Saturday of course, was the wedding – the reason we are here.

At Huser Farm. A wedding venue with a 1920’s barn, surrounding fields- soy beans and corn.

Yes there was dancing.

Like nobody was watching – from me. (Picture Phoebe from Friends in that iconic run through Central Park scene).

There was eating.

Drinking.

And tears.

An eagle hovered during the wedding ceremony-although I didn’t quite capture it.

There were beautiful speeches including an amazing heart tugging speech written and delivered by the best man – Calen’s bro Cam.

New found besties.

New and unusual dance moves.

Precious time with those we love.

And fireworks!

Mostly there was love and joy.

‘Twas a late night.

‘Twas the best night.

It was hot. That was a fun. There was no alcohol involved. Not at all.

Recovery day Sunday. Didn’t do much, hung around the porch and watched the world go by.

Wandered down to the local coffee shop Sassafras, where the young lady started writing on my cup before I got to the counter. Four singleshotsoylattes and they think they know me 😜

We did go for a drive out to the brides family farm. Took some photos. Of course.

And on the way back went to the local market and picked up snacks for a good ‘ole American BBQ.

Then the new Mr. & Mrs. P swung by to say goodbye on their way to their honeymoon – Puerto Rico.

Bonus to see them again!

Next morning I put on my sunglasses so I could say goodbye to my new BIL and SIL (yes of course there were tears) and headed north.

First stop, Oshkosh for coffee.

Which is where I sit right now.
