Segways, Chicago Cubs and night time moves

Be yourself. Everyone else is taken.

I heard that today.

Today was pretty damn awesome.

We started with a Segway tour along the waterfront.

I have to be honest, I was a teeny bit anxious. One trip and that bloomin’ shoulder of mine….but once Allay told us that we could only go 10mph and the Segway couldn’t tip up I felt a little confident.

Forgetting that’s not in km’s. Oh well what’s another 6.09 miles between friends.

Once we straddled those babies (is that the right word?) – well in the words of my bestie SIL Lori, ‘what a hoot’. I could just picture us both cruising around Chch terrorising the Lime Scooter riders. Might have to get one MoD.

We headed out to the Adler Planetarium and back again.

There are 614 parks in this city. Architects Daniel Burnham and Edward H Bennett created a plan for Chicago in 1909, now known as the The Plan of Chicago 😜. Burnham wanted to create a city in a park. I think he succeeded.

After our Segway tour it was time to hop the Red Line and head out to Wrigley Fields for my first ever American Baseball Game.

Atlantic Braves playing Chicago Cubs. The Cubs had won the previous three games. Being in Chicago we thought it best to support the Cubs. Turns out the people around us were Braves fans. Turns out the Braves dominated the Cubs with an 8-0 victory. Turns out we decided we were Braves fans. Lots of turns outs in this story.

Twas a great all-american experience including hot dogs

Of course you must see the Hot Dog (which is actually a cheat vegetarian dog)

…..and the guys behind us who were totally hilarious. I tried to get their audio on video but wasn’t exactly successful….One of those guys turned out to be JID performing the next day at the Oompa Loompa Music Festival. You might wonder what that is – it’s MoD’s name for the Lollapalooza Music Fest currently taking up a lot of activity in downtown Chicago. Headliners (that I had heard of) Billie Eilish and Chili Peppers.

Given my age and lack of music knowledge, the only way we knew this was JID was because everyone kept coming up and getting photos. And his mate whispered who he was. JID and I of course, fist pumped and decided we both love Melbourne. I’m almost famous.

Everyone should go to a baseball game at least once.

After the game with 36,225 people trying to hop the train, there was only one solution – a drink on the terrace of Wrigleyvilles Sports Corner.

Our evening consisted of dinner in a cute little place called Fisk & Co and a wander around town.

Another brilliant day.

P.S. Yep, too many ‘us picks but this is my travel diary peeps…..
