Our time here is done. We have had the best holiday and the best family time with half of our American family. I can’t put into words how wonderful it was to spend time with them all and to meet so many wonderful new people. Even though I am completely socially inept these days.

So now, we sit at the O’Hare airport, which frankly is chaos. Saving grace is MoD’s status with Air New Zealand which allows us entry into the Star Alliance Lounge.

Checking through security is horrendous. For a country that considers itself the most powerful country in the world, with a GDP of $21.4 trillion and population of 328 million. Well they need to get their customs and security shit together. And stop being so arrogant about it. MoD says we are spoilt in Australia and New Zealand. I say we utilise technology properly and our people aren’t (generally) arrogant and rude. And I don’t say this lightly given my whining in the past about Melbourne baggage operators.

That’s my opinion and you are all entitled to it.
