Kaikoura

‘And, that’s why’ she said, placing her hands firmly on her hips and glaring down menacingly at us, ‘I needed to sit in that seat. I just vomited.’. ‘Excuse me?’ I said while MoD laughed because he didn’t hear her words. ‘It’s not funny!’ She cried. We were on a whale watch cruise in Kaikoura. Kaikoura is a quaint little town on the east coast … Continue reading Kaikoura

Travel Day

Time to pack up and leave Adelaide behind us. Thank you South Australia, it’s been a fabulous experience. Ballarat, my hometown, was our destination. An early start was in order, given we had a booking at a local restaurant that night with my eldest son and my ‘inner circle’ After the mandatory coffee pick up we headed off. Keith was our first stop. Our friend … Continue reading Travel Day

Adelaide Hills, Mount Lofty Summit and of course, Henley Beach

Right next to the bus terminal, the car park was reasonably priced at $35 for the not quite 24 hours we had parked. As opposed to my being … Continue reading Adelaide Hills, Mount Lofty Summit and of course, Henley Beach

Hahndorf is Australia’s oldest surviving German settlement and hosts an annual Oktoberfest.  Because of the First World War  in Europe in 1917, the South Australian Government changed a number … Continue reading Hahndorf, RM Williams & Adelaide

Onkaparinga River National Park

When planning this trip I thought I must have been doing something fundamentally wrong in my research techniques. I just couldn’t seem to find any mountain bike hire places. Seems it’s a thing over here. You can hire plenty of road or eBikes, but mountain bikes are relatively hard to hire. Pretty odd given the amazing places there are to mountain bike around both the … Continue reading Onkaparinga River National Park

Maslin Beach, home of the first nudist beach in Australia

We looked…..and we looked….and we looked. The water temperature was at least 16, but nudies were nowhere to be found. So disappointing. Douggie said he was considering it. Sigh of relief that he decided against it. We wouldn’t have known where to look. I mean eeeewwwwwwww….. Different when it’s strangers. But someone you know?? I don’t think so…… Maslin Beach is a beautiful little seaside … Continue reading Maslin Beach, home of the first nudist beach in Australia
