Apparently it’s been the wettest year Christchurch has experienced for decades. And everyone is sick of it.
I’m not. Yes it can be annoying. Especially when your only means of transport is a bike, that being a bicycle not a motorbike. But as a person who always has a Plan B, I have a Plan B, and I completely cover myself in waterproof attire. It’s not pretty.
I come from drought country. We had a 7+ year drought in the Rat (Ballarat). Our beautiful Lake Wendouree, a 6 km expanse of foreshore, 238ha and 2km length, was bone dry. The only bonus was that we got to walk straight across it. I hope I never get that chance again.
Heavy water restrictions meant we could only water alternate days and no-one ever washed their cars. When restrictions were lifted we still frowned upon those who did. I can get mortally offended when I see people here, not only washing their cars but washing them on the pavement. Teeth brushing is an exercise in balance and coordination. Balancing of electric tooth brush, water on, water off, water on, water off. Old habits die hard.
This land appears to be one of water aplenty. Seemingly. Everywhere I look is green.
And I’m loving it. #nzlife2017 #ChristchurchNZ#PocketsofAwesome
My walk to work this morning…….
