Fully Vaccinnated…..and Yes, You are Welcome

On Monday I received my second Pfizer dose.

I was very excited.

My son said this morning, ‘Mum, now you don’t have to worry about it’.

Son, I wasn’t.

If I was to get Covid19, well you can’t do much about that.

Meant to be I guess.

Not my fault.

I have, throughout this whole thing, taken every possible precaution.

Checked in, sanitised, worn masks when required, kept away when necessary.

The excitement wasn’t about me.

It was about my community.

My family, my friends, my whanau.

Who I now have much less chance of posing a threat to.

Extremely important with my intention to continue regular travel between NZ and Australia.

Once the borders are opened.

I mean how would I feel, if it was I who passed the damn thing on?

Passed it on to our grandson, our family.

Passed it on to MoD?

How would I feel to take a virus back to them that I may have been able to avoid.

By taking the appropriate action.

I had heard a few disturbing reports of some people learning their facts from social media. And then not wanting to have the vaccine.

Hence, I guess, this rant.

So after having the second jab I wanted to put it out there, publicise it I guess.

On ‘the Book’.

I found a frame for my profile picture which fitted the bill.

Sort of.

Fully Vaccinated. You’re Welcome.

I thought that was a bit pompous.

You’re Welcome.

Then I realised, actually you ARE welcome.

This virus isn’t about one individual.

It isn’t about me.

This virus is about the community.

And taking steps to protect the community?

Well.

I have.

And I did.

And, yes, you are welcome.

Those out there who fail to take those steps?

What the hell are you doing?

You are more than happy to be part of the community.

More than happy to browse through clothes shops, department stores, shopping malls, supermarkets, KMart.

More than happy to visit that cafe for your morning coffee.

Grab lunch or dinner at your favourite restaurant.

You are more than happy to call on the members of the community you need when you are distressed.

The ambulance officers, police, doctors, nurses.

Politicians, dentists.

More than happy to visit the hairdresser for a new ‘do’.

More than happy to get your nails done or go to the gym.

More than happy to utilise your community when you want too.

And it seems you are also more than happy to let that very same community down by not taking appropriate measures to protect them.

And ultimately you.

You read your social media and think you have the right to say the vaccine isn’t safe?

Interestingly you watch shows like The Social Dilemma, or talk the narrative of the whole ‘fake news’ scenario, with great knowledge and passion of the dangers of that very medium.

And the stupidity of some people.

Yet continue to take the ‘facts’ from the same platform.

Frankly you don’t have an opinion that’s worthy.

Unless you have actually read verifiable scientific information.

Information that struggles to appear on social media to the extent that riveting, hysteria creating, social sharing, mind blowing, ‘fake news’ does.

Sure, the vaccine was produced quickly.

You are right about that.

Yet there is plenty of verifiable and evidence based information out there to explain just why this could take place.

I’m not a scientist, I’m not a medical person.

But before you listen to someone who claims to be just that, I invite you to at least read the right information from a reliable source. Learn about the vaccine. Do some research on a platform that isn’t social media.

The facts are scientists have spent decades doing basic research which allowed them to speed up the development of these vaccines.

They have harnessed the use of mRNA.

Basically the administration of which can cause a cell to make a protein, which in turn can directly treat a disease.

Or function as a vaccine.

The technology was already there waiting further development.

Development I guess made possible by the Global Community suddenly having the funds and resources which scientists have begged for decades to have.

And of course, with production vastly sped up with those scientists being able to use mRNA as a delivery mechanism, they were then able to quickly move to clinical and human trials.

The public didn’t see that this remarkable achievement represented years of global research including advances from fighting SARS and those decades of basic science to better understand mRNA.

The idea of mRNA and it’s purpose was conceived in 1960.

And remember that Covid19 is a form of SARS.

But those other, ummmmm relevant questions you have?

Like, the vaccine changes your DNA?

Really?

Nope.

The virus is quite effective at that. All on it’s little own.

The Government and pharmaceutical companies are working together – in a sinister way.

How does that even work on a global level?

5G trackers imbedded in the vaccine.

Oh please……..

Seriously?

There just isn’t a response to that.

One that a person who believed that would actually understand.

Down to a more grass roots level.

You are happy to vape.

Happy to smoke even with cyanide being an ingredient in cigarettes.

Happy to drink copious quantities of brain cell destroying alcohol.

Happy to eat manufactured foods which include all sorts of unknowns (just read the label and see if you can make sense of the manufactured products included in your food).

Happy to take the contraceptive pill which can put you at higher risk of stroke and blood clots.

Happy to take a party pill from your friends not knowing what’s in it and what affect it may have on your body.

That’s Russian Roulette right there.

But you won’t take a vaccine?

Covid19 is here to stay, whether we like it or not.

The writing is on the wall, we will need a yearly/biannual booster shot.

Covid19 will continue to mutate and science will continue to work on it.

And we will continue to learn how to live with it.

Hopefully we can continue to work as a global community to keep everyone safe.

The reality is that means we may need vaccine passes to enter restaurants, concerts, gyms.

And that’s ok.

Because being part of a community and all it has to offer includes responsibilities and sometimes compromise.

But back to you.

You are entitled to your opinion.

But if you are going to have an opinion.

And then create an action out of that opinion.

Which affects your community and the people you love.

Make sure your opinion is based on good scientific fact.

And not social media.

Just don’t get me started on people who don’t follow social distancing rules guidelines or wear masks when they are asked to.

That’s a whole other story……

  2. Spot on Kim you expressed our thoughts exactly. Cannot fathom why people are prepared to play Russian roulette with the lives of their loved ones. There is so much evidence to support the benefit of vaccination. And doesn’t everyone want to move forward with their lives?
Enough of this stupidity, let’s get the job done to protect us all, and so we can be reunited with our loved ones!

    Love to you all
    xx
