Let’s talk libraries

Egg Harbor couldn’t be complete without finding the ‘egg’ exhibition.

Located in The Pavillion aka Egg Harbor Library.

Right now I am a little fascinated with libraries, given the project I am working on is the Matatiki Hornby Community Centre in Christchurch.

The centre we are building has a library which includes a creative activities room and recording room, a recreation centre with a lane pool, spa pool, learn to swim and hydrotherapy pool, bookable multipurpose rooms AND a service centre. All of which promises the Hornby community a facility that will amaze and delight.

So this sort of stuff right now, is my jam.

You might like to switch off now and come back to my next posts on Sister Bay, Green Bay and Milwaukee.

Anyho, we parked in the library car park beside a stunning glass tree. It’s not the prettiest building from the outside so the tree was a lovely touch.

AND folks, BE STILL MY BEATING HEART, EV chargers!

USA you are redeemed. Somewhat. Well you are getting there. I can’t deny that. We don’t see many EV’s but obviously Egg Harbor has future planning going on. Naturally you need to see a photo of the EV chargers. Just in case.

A yoga class was taking place on the upstairs balcony. Being a warm summers morning, moving out of the very large upstairs multi purpose room to the deck made sense.

Downstairs is the library and whilst it isn’t a big space it’s multi functional.

All the books are on shelves behind blinds.

They have weddings and functions there so they can ‘hide’ the books and you wouldn’t know you were in a library.

We found the eggs, in a glass case behind the service desk. I had joked to my BIL Mitch that the only eggs I wanted to see were Faberge. Seems like I got my wish.

On the landing, between floors, cool little glass donation tablets were attached to the wall. The carpet looked like grass.

The children’s library (which was closed) is one big play room.

MoD was excited because you could buy second hand books for $1. On an honesty system. I practiced restraint given how many books I already have. Oh ok. You know me well. I am saving space in my luggage for other purchases.

And that, my friends, is all I have to say about that.

  1. I didn’t actually think there would be Faberge eggs. Who knew there were so many different eggs in one place? I knew the real reason before you even said about not buying books! It cost me over $400 in excess luggage coming home from Abu Dhabi 😱
