#Can’tSleep

Sleep.

It’s a five letter word that has morphed into a dirty four letter word.

And that dirty four letter word has morphed into an evil nine letter word.

It’s been ten days since ‘Sleep’ marched out the front door and let ‘Can’tSleep’ in. (Coincidentally ‘fragility’ arrived not long after.)

I’ve been informed that all I need to do is decide that I am going to sleep and this will come to pass.  The power of the mind.

I don’t dispute the power of the mind. I’ve been a convert since my first child.

When my GP informed me that I wouldn’t have baby number one on the due date.  Yes I will thank you very much. The first was a fluke, he said, you won’t have number two on the due date. Thank you kindly but yes I will. Ok you might have child number three on the due date. Thank you, but no thank you,  I want this one early. 20 days early to be precise. Which I did.

The power of the mind is a real thing. Can’tSleep just doesn’t believe in it.

Can’tSleep has been hanging around since I was 12, usually rearing his ugly head when there is no security around me.

He can be a nasty beast.

Studies indicate that Can’tSleep puts me at a higher risk of heart disease, obesity, high blood pressure, stroke and diabetes. He impairs attention, alertness, concentration, reasoning, and problem solving.  Can’tSleep reduces the critical role that Sleep has in thinking and learning. This may explain why I can’t advance past lesson 6 of French for Dummies.  Can’tSleep dumbs you down.

Right now I just want to close my eyes for a minute and the next thing I know it’s my alarm going off at 5a.m.

There is nothing good about Can’tSleep.

  1. On the bright side… you are in no danger of obesity. I agree though, we can’t function without sleep. Hope this resolves for you!! Have a good weekend!
